Hindu mythology says that Lord Vishnu turned into a “Saaligrama” after the curse of Brinda, and got salvation at this holy place, therefore Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Muktinath. The Muktinath Temple is a symbol of religious unity as both Buddhists and Hindus visit this place, Lord Vishnu is worshipped as “Avalokishteshwara” by the Buddhists. The temple is in a Pagoda Style and has the metal statues of Lord Vishnu, Godess Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Janaki, Garuda, lava-kusha and Sapta-Rishis.
